Merriweather is famous for its use of high-frequency sheen—the sparkle on “Daily Routine,” the cymbal washes that sound like digital rain, and the vocal harmonies that pan between channels. At 128kbps, those frequencies are truncated (cut off around 16kHz). At 320kbps, the cutoff is near 20kHz, preserving the air and space.
