Kekilli grew up in a conservative family in Uşak, Turkey. She developed an interest in acting at a young age and began her career in the entertainment industry as a model. Her breakthrough came in 2002 when she participated in the Turkish version of the beauty pageant, "Miss Turkey". Her success in the pageant led to her being cast in her first film, "Günaydın Sevgili" (2002).
