The film revolves around Mary (played by Katie Holmes), a grieving mother who is still reeling from the tragic loss of her young son. Desperate to reconnect with her child, Mary turns to a mysterious and seemingly supernatural method – a door that is said to allow communication with the dead. As she becomes more and more obsessed with the door, Mary begins to experience strange and terrifying occurrences that blur the lines between reality and the afterlife.

The Other Side of the Door is not a perfect film. Critics in 2016 called it predictable (they weren't entirely wrong).
