User had TCL 55C2US stuck on Android 5.1 with “Unfortunately, Launcher has stopped” error. Tried OTA — nothing. Downloaded V8-T658T01-LF1V135 from a Russian firmware site. Flashed via USB (Power off → USB in port 2 → hold power button on TV → plug in power). TV booted into recovery, updated successfully to Android 7.0. : Widevine L1 dropped to L3 → Netflix only SD. Fix: Had to re-flash a specific “L1 fix” zip via recovery — risky.

To confirm that the update was successful, John checked the firmware version in the settings menu. The new firmware version was displayed as "55C2US_software_ version 10.0.1," which was a higher version than the one he had before.
