At launch, College Hoops 2K8 included active during the 2007–08 season. This covered every major conference (ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, Pac-10, etc.) and almost all mid-major and low-major conferences.
The "story" of the teams list is one of enduring legacy, community-led updates, and a surprisingly deep roster that has kept the game relevant nearly two decades after its release. While it officially launched with nearly every NCAA Division I program of the time, its true longevity lies in how players use those teams for the legendary "Closed Legacy" mode. : You must start at a "small" conference school with low prestige, such as Cal State Fullerton , Savannah State , or UC Riverside , and work your way up to a power conference job.
