When Discovery Channel is broadcast online, the server chops the continuous feed into small 10-second chunks. The M3U8 file tells your video player (like VLC, TiviMate, or Kodi) where to find each chunk. The player downloads the playlist, plays the first chunk, and instantly requests the next one, creating a seamless live stream.
